Myofascial release
What it is and what to expect
What
Myofascial release is a therapeutic technique aimed at relieving tension in the connective tissues, or fascia, that surround muscles. It involves applying gentle, sustained pressure to the affected areas to help release tightness, improve flexibility, and restore normal function. The goal is to alleviate pain and enhance overall mobility by addressing restrictions in the fascial network.
Why
Myofascial release is needed because tightness and restrictions in the fascia can cause pain, limit range of motion, and disrupt normal muscle function. These issues often result from injury, stress, or repetitive strain, leading to chronic discomfort and impaired movement. By addressing these restrictions, myofascial release helps to restore balance, alleviate pain, and improve overall physical function.
Need to know
Myofascial release is different from the normal massage expectations. Where a normal massage involves the manipulation of the muscles, Myofascial release involves slow sustained gentle pressure for minutes at a time for it work.
Is it for me?
Myofascial release has been extremely helpful for prolonged results, clients with sensitive scar tissue, fibromyalgia, chronic stress, repetitive strain injuries and so much. Anyone can do this type of massage and everyone can benefit from it.
