A client has the possibility to feel sore after a deep tissue massage. Why? Think of it like holding a heavy object for a long period time and then setting it down. Your muscles will naturally feel sore. This is a normal reaction. With the help of deep tissue massage, you will often feel like you have gained joint mobility and overall stress and pain relief.
Is it for me?
Discussing your expectations and what you’re feeling with your therapist to best be able to make that determination. Deep tissue massage often results in the “good pain” during the session. If this is not what you’re looking for, we have other modalities to offer.
Why
A deep tissue massage has many benefits. It betters blood flow to those deeper layers of muscle, betters joint movement, promotes stress relief, and alleviates chronic pain.
What
Deep tissue massage is a modality of massage that targets the deepest level of muscle possible. This does not necessarily mean there has be deep pressure used. The massage therapist can reach a deep muscle by using stretches and joint mobility to assist with the pressure levels.
